Candidate Statement
The Green Party has the opportunity to direct the change needed to counter the global issues facing society globally and at home. There is clear demand for a liberal, progressive, effective approach to our politics and the Green Party has positioned itself to lead on this front.
The Young Greens has a huge part to play in the attempt to solve our current problems, being the political organisation with the greatest potential to bring together young people. We are dedicated to justice, equality, democracy, and sustainability, and to rebuilding society in a more resilient, equitable way.
I am Rajiv and I have worked for the Young Greens in many different ways. As the Electoral Returning Officer in 2019, I oversaw our elections, managing candidate nominations, speeches, and results. As co-chair of 2019’s AGM, I helped to ensure the smooth running of that essential democratic feature of our party.
I also have experience working in various industries, including research, policy, and business. I am able to perform reliably under pressure and keep to strict time and logistical constraints. I am also highly organised and driven, and want to contribute to the progress of the Young Greens and broader Green Party.
For these reasons I believe I would be a good treasurer of the Young Greens. I am accustomed to organising money, highly attuned to politics, and dedicated to Green politics.
Thank you for hearing me out!
