Candidate Statement
CYMRAEG: Rydw i wedi bod yn aelod o'r Blaid Werdd am dros flwyddyn erbyn hyn, yn ogystal a cymryd rhan yn y mudiad streic ysgol. O'r dechrau, mae'r Blaid Werdd Ifanc wedi cynnig croeso cynnes i mi. Teimlais fod y BWI yn rhannu fy nheimladau fod angen dyfodol cyfiawn a cynialadwy. Cafodd fy nheimladau eu chadarnhau pan es i gonvensiwn y BWI ac i Gynhadledd Hydref y Blaid Werdd pan welais i aelodau y BWI yn dal eu dir wrth iddyn nhw ddweud yn hollol glir fod y brwydyr dros cyfiawnder hinsawdd a'r frwydyr dros cyfiawnder cymdeithasol yn gwbwl anwahanadwy.
Yn fy marn i, mae'r flwyddyn dywethaf wedi bod yn gymysgedd o lawenydd a siom: rydyn ni wedi gweld y cyhoedd Prydeinig yn ymgysylltu gyda'r trychineb hinsawdd yn fwy nag erioed, ond mae'r misoedd dywethaf hefyd wedi rhoi mwyafrif Seneddol i'r Toriaid a mae COVID-19 wedi gohirio COP26 i'r flwyddyn 2021. Mae'r cracder rydyn ni'n temlo yn gryf, a mae'n bosib i ni droi'r teimlad yma mewn i egni i ddinistrio'r system erchyll yma.
I wneud hyn, mi fydd angen i ni weithio tu fas i San Steffan a'r Senedd - heibio glweidyddiaeth etholiadol. Dim ond ni, y ieuenctid ac ein cymrawdion, sydd yn gallu adeiladu byd teg, a fe all y BWI fod yn rhan o'r mudiad yma. Gall ein rhwydwaith o actifyddion merdrus a proffiadol fod yn gatalydd ar gyfer hyfforddi a rhoi sgiliau i fyfyrwyr a phobl ifanc. Hoffwn weld ein rhwydwaith yn ymgyrchu ac adeiladu pŵer yn ein cymunedau ni, fel bod ni'n gallu creu newid nawr.
Fel cyd-gadeirydd i Blaid Werdd Ifanc, byddwn i'n gweithio gyda'r Pwyllgor Uwchradd a'r aelodau i:
Adeiladu a cryfhau ein rhwydwaith o rŵpiau lleol, rhyddhad a rhanbarthol felly bod ieuenctid Cymru a Lloegr yn gallu gweithio yn lleol fel aelodau o'r BWI, yn a ogystal a gweithio gyda grŵpiau llawr gwlad i greu clymblaid o bobl fydd yn newid ein cymdeithas fel ei bod e'n gallu goroesi y canrif nesaf.
Darparu a hwyluso sesiynau rhannu sgiliau a hyfforddi felly bod ni'n gallu rhannu gwybodaeth ein rhwydwaith.
Adeiladu ar addysg gwleidyddol y PU dywethaf i radicaleiddio a cymell pobl ifanc ac i hyrwyddio gwleidyddiaeth rhyddhad (sydd yn cynnwys diddymiad yr heddlu a carcharoedd yn ogystal a talu ein dyled i'n hen gytrefi).
Gwneud yn siwr for aelodau enwog y Blaid Werdd a'r arweinwyr yn bihafio mewn ffordd sydd yn sefyll am gyfiawnder hinsawdd, hil a cymuned.
Rydyn ni, pobl ifanc y byd, wedi etifeddu byd sydd yn marw. Mae trachwant a diogi y cyfoethocaf wedi ein melltithio i ganrif o drychineb hinsawdd - ond rydyn ni yn ymlaf dros ein hawl i fyw ac i fod yn hapus. Rydw i'n credu fod rhaid i ni sefyll ysgwydd wrth ysgwydd gyda'n cymrawdion yn Ne y Byd a gyda cymunedau Brodorol i ennill cyfiawnder hinsawdd byd-eang. Mae'n rhy hwyr i ni achub y byd, ond gallwn adeiladu cymuned byd-eang yn llawn parch, cariad, ac undod. Os allwn ni wneud hynny, dwi'n gobeithio allwn ni oroesi y trychineb yma - gyda'n gilydd.
ENGLISH: I have been a member of the Green Party for just over a year now, and have been active in the school strike movement for about the same time. When I first joined the party I was immediately welcomed and made to feel at home by the Young Greens team, who I felt shared my belief in a more just and sustainable future. Visiting last year's Convention and the 2019 Autumn Conference confirmed this for me when I saw YGs standing up to the rest of the party and making it clear that the struggles for social and environmental justice are one and the same.
I think that the past year has been really mixed; we've seen a new height in engagement from the British public with regards to the ongoing climate apocalypse - but this has been coupled with a new Tory majority and the postponement of COP26 to 2021, as well as a total failure to take the immediate action we need. But with this bitterness and disappointment comes a wave of rage and energy that might, just might, be able to topple this bloated and corrupt system.
To do this we need to look beyond Parliament and beyond electoral politics. Only we can build a just world, and the Young Greens can be part of the coming movement that will seek to transform our society for the better. Our network of radical, skilled activists can be a catalyst for training up students and young people, giving them the skills they need to wage campaigns and build power in their communities to start effecting real change.
As co-chair of the Young Greens I would work with the Executive Committee and membership to:
Build up and strengthen our network of local, liberation and regional groups so that young people from across England and Cymru are able to organise locally as Young Greens, as well as working with grassroots, direct action and campaign groups in order to build a broad coalition of changemakers and a resilient society capable of surviving the oncoming century.
Provide and facilitate skillshares and trainings so that the collective knowledge of our network can be distributed, allowing for our movement to grow stronger.
Build on the political education work done by the previous EC to radicalise and motivate more young activists and bring liberation politics (including police and prison abolition and reparations) into the foreground.
Hold the rest of the Green Party, particularly prominent media figures and the leadership, to account and call them out when they fail to uphold our values of radical social, racial and climate justice.
We, the Youth, have inherited a dying planet. The greed and laziness of the elites has condemned us to a century of climate disaster - but we are fighting back. It is my belief that only by standing shoulder to shoulder with our comrades in the Global South and with Indigenous communities that we can truly achieve global climate justice. We can't save the planet, but we can build a global community founded upon shared values of respect, solidarity and our common humanity that I hope will be able to weather the coming storm.
