Candidate Statement
My name is Amelia Harris and I am currently studying BA Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London. Studying Geography has encouraged me to question the patriarchal power structures of the world, and the injustices this has created for the most oppressed members of society. It is time that those who identify as women feel truly represented in politics and posistions of power, because without representation it is hard to find the confidence to speak out.
As a committee member of the Women's Young Green's Liberation Group, I would ensure the voices of women are considered with the same level of importance shown to the voices of men. I am extremely hard working, determined and persisent and I care about nothing more than creating an equal society. It could be argued that, without an equal society, it will be even more challenging to create a sustainable one. As a member of the Green Party, my biggest passion is finding climate justice for future generations of young people. I believe we can only make this possible if the voices of the most oppressed members of our society are heard because although they have had the smallest contribution to the choices made regarding the climate crisis, they will be most affected.
If I am elected for this role, I will work tirelessly to represent those who identify as female. I want to empower young women to know that our voices matter, that we are not limited to any role and that we have the power to change the world. I truly belives that the Green Party can change this nation for the better and I would be honoured to have the opportunity to be a part of this.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Amelia Harris.
