- LGBTIQA+ Liberation Officer
Candidate Statement
I have been a Green Party Member for almost 8 years. I would love the opportunity to continue playing a helpful role in the vital work of organizing communities and empowering the most vulnerable and marginalized in our society. As we all know this work starts 'at home' and if we really are the party of social revolution we need to be walking the walk, subverting the status quo and ensuring the voices that are most ignored are heard and valued.
As representative for my community, I would do my best to remain humble and responsive, putting consent over consensus wherever possible to ensure no one is steam-rollered over and we preserve the right of reply.
With the support of a strong team I'm hopeful I can put my skills to good use and be a strong advocate for LGBTIQA+ voices in matters which affect us. I'm confident in my ability to diffuse tensions, face up to injustice and encourage authentic collaboration. I have plenty of experience speaking up for LGBTIQA+ issues in various settings, as well as first hand knowledge of why this is so important, and I would fully dedicate myself to this role.
