- Activist Training and Political Education Officer
Candidate Statement
I am passionate about making the Green Party a vehicle for social and climate justice and for the Young Greens to be a radical, campaigning force within the Party, pushing it to be better.
To do so we need to raise our collective knowledge and skills to help fight and win elections in local government, within the Party itself and for greater representation in Parliament.
The Young Greens in recent years have led the way within the green movement on upskilling activists and developing radical policy. I want to continue to build upon this legacy and increase the number of Young Greens in key positions across the Party.
In this position I would work to:
- Develop elections skills sessions, furthering the crucial work of making the Young Greens a force during election time.
- Develop campaigns skills sessions for Young Greens in universities, cities and regions across the country, not just during elections.
- Build upon the fantastic Young Greens political education sessions developed over the last two years and continue to develop links with activists within the wider green movement.
- Revive the Young Greens book club.
- Deliver an inspiring 30 under 30 scheme to train up some of our most promising activists.
- Listen to and co-produce activist training with our membership that meets our collective needs.
Since 2019, I have been a Co-Young Greens and Students Coordinator for Sheffield Green Party, giving me plenty of local party Executive experience. I have campaigned in numerous council and General Elections and last year I was part of the 30 under 30 Young Greens activist training programme. Furthermore, I have also played a key role in bringing together the Yorkshire and Humber Young Greens group.
I am now in a position to take what I have learnt at a local level to the national Young Greens Executive. I will play a constructive role within the group working to deliver a bold and radical Young Greens Executive that is responsive to members.
