1. Papers timeline:
21st May - Submission for Papers open
18th June - Submission of Papers Closes, submission of Amendments to Papers opens, submission of Emergency Motions opens
9th July - Submission of Amendments to Papers closes
16th July - Submission of Emergency Motions closes (5pm)
17th/18th July - Convention happens (including the Annual General Meeting where Papers are discussed, debated, and voted on)
Deadlines refer to 11:59pm unless specified otherwise
2. Types of Paper:
There are three types of Paper:
- Policy statements (Which state the Young Greens policy on an issue). These, if passed, will be inserted into the Record Of Policy Statements (RoPS). The current version of RoPS can be found on the Young Greens Space on the Members Website.
- Organisational statements (Which set the priorities of the Young Greens Executive Committee). These, if passed, will be inserted into the Record Of Organisational Statements (RoOS). The current version of RoOS can be found on the Young Greens Space on the Members Website.
- Amendments to the Constitution or Standing Orders. These, if passed, will be implemented into the Constitution and Standing Orders with immediate effect after Convention ends.
3. How to submit a Paper:
To submit a paper, you'll need to go to the homepage of this site and click the relevant 'Create a _____' link to get started. It's best to look at examples from RoPS and RoOS if you are submitting that type of paper, to give you an idea of the structure of those papers. Each paper requires 3 supporters, but these can be acquired after initial submission. Your paper must have the required number of supporters before the close of submissions or it will not be valid.
4. Where to find Papers (after close of submissions):
Papers will be posted to the Young Greens Space on the Members Website shortly after the close of submissions. Those that met the required number of supporters will also be visible on this website, where you can submit amendments to them.

How motions work:
Motions are ideas from Young Greens and Young Greens groups that will be debated at Convention and then put to a vote at Convention. If adopted they will be added to their relevant document.
How do I submit/write a motion/resolution/amendment?
Using this website, you can create motion, resolutions, and amendments by filling in the fields on the submission page. You will need to supply text that you wish to be adopted (and in the case of amendments, you will also be able to remove text from the original).

How many people do I need to propose it?
Any motion requires three supporters (these don't need to be named when you submit the motion, these can be found later).
Who is eligible to propose motions?
Any member of the Young Greens or a Young Greens group can propose motions.
What format does it have to be in?
Motions must be submitted as plain text.
Can I email it in?
If you need help submitting it, we can do it on your behalf.
What happens at convention?
At convention, we run the Annual General Meeting (AGM). This is where we hear back from the previous years Executive Committee (EC), elect a new EC and DAC, and debate and vote on motions. Other activities, outside of the AGM sessions, include training, workshops, and panels and speakers.
Do I have to be at Convention?
You do not need to be at Convention to submit or propose motions. However yourself, or a supporter of the motion will need to be there to propose the motion for debate. There is an access fund organised by the Young Greens to help those who may not normally be able to attend Conference due to financial constraints.

How many people do I need to support me?
You need two members of the Young Greens to support you. You will need to provide a contact email so we can confirm this from them.
Who is eligible to be a candidate?
Any member of the Young Greens may nominate themselves for a role. You can only nominate for a single position.
What format does my nomination have to be in?
You must submit it through this website, this can be done from the homepage.

What happens at convention?
There will be a live hustings held at convention, where you can ask questions to the candidates.
Do I have to be at convention?
You do not have to be there. If you are unable to attend due to financial constraints, please check out our access fund - you can find this in the younggreens.org.uk convention section. You can submit a written statement to be read out at the live hustings.
