Candidate Statement
Lockdown has had a large impact on everyone, and has presented us with new opportunities and challenges. As a result, there is a need to engage with and reenergise members who have been left exhausted by the pandemic. Whilst Zooms calls have kept us connected there have been numerous flaws, with meetings and events not being fully accessible. Now that lockdowns are easing, we have the opportunity to run events and campaigns with a new hybrid model keeping what we’ve learnt from lockdown and combining it with the pre-pandemic way of doing things, meaning campaigns and events will be more accessible than ever. We have the opportunity to engage with and recruit new members who are disillusion with the current state of politics. We need to make sure that we continue our success from lockdown and produce truly intersectional campaigns that take into account a variety of voices.
