CC4: Alperen Acik

Hi all, My name is Alperen Acik- I am from East London and I am now announcing my candidacy for the Co-Chair elections of the Young Greens.

A Vote for Alperen is a vote for a New Greener Generation.

Here is how I will reform our movement:

- Increasing community organisation efforts through a larger and more organised activist base.

- More media presence in order to push against the corporate-establishment narratives on the climate crisis.

- A more active executive committee that puts plans raised by members into motion and sees proposals through.

- Increasing accountability of elected Young Greens officials in order to streamline our executive.

- Focusing on educational campaigns around Proportional Representations (PR) at the community level to push electoral-reform

- Pushing membership of the Green Party into the vogue for young climate activists.

- Amplifying voices in the movement through bigger and more frequent conventions for members and the public alike. - Inclusion of the various eco-activism movements within the Young Greens to unite our resources.

- Our Non-Environmental policies must also be pushed to the public to show that the Greens are fit for government.

My beliefs on the climate are like yours and follow the party line. I believe that

- Non-specific and distant targets like 'Carbon Neutrality 'by 2050' as being performative, unhelpful, useless and in need of radical change.

- That investment in wind farms on the North Sea and subsidisation of solar power is necessary for a post-fossil fuel energy grind.

- Furthermore, private companies must be a vital part of the solution to Climate Change with the UK leading the world in Green Innovation.

- Incentives must be placed for reducing energy waste in commercial property and UK industry.

- I fully endorse and back the People's Vote Bill and a closer relationship with the EU.

- I agree with the Green New Deal bill and think it should go farther and be more radical.
